Applying Smart Filters in Photoshop

- [Instructor] All right, next let's begin to take a look at how we can apply and work with smart filters. Yet before we do that, let me talk with you about a typical filter workflow. Let's say with a photograph like this, one of the things that we want to do is blur out an area of the background. Well, one way to do that would be click into the layer that we want to work on, navigate to the filter pull down menu, and then apply that filter. So here I'll go to blur gallery and just for demo purposes, I'll choose a blur which is called the iris blur. I'll go ahead and click on that. This will launch the image inside of the blur gallery window. I can then apply the blur that I want to create or add to the image. You can see that area is all blurred out there in the outside area and then click OK. Now of course, this will apply the filter and it works, but the only problem is my hands are tied because if I decide that you know what, actually I really don't like that. It doesn't look very…
