Applying a layer effect
- [Tutor] All right, now let's show you how to apply a non-destructive layer effect in our case, in order to colorize the background to the shade of blue. All right, so the first thing we need to do is convert that flat background to an independent layer. And you do that by double clicking on the background item. And that's going to bring up the new layer dialog box, at which point I'll call this layer day and click OK. And you can see that we now have an independent layer that I can move on top of the other layers if I want to, just by dragging it up the stack. It's obviously not what I want. So I'll just go ahead and drag it back down like so. And then to get to the layer effects, you click on this little FX icon at the bottom of the Layers panel, and that's going to give you a list of representative effects like so.
