Auto-aligning oversized images
- [Instructor] So what do you do if your scanner is smaller than the illustration you're trying to scan in? Well, you scan it in two pieces and they don't even have to be in the same direction or straight up and down because there's some magic here in Photoshop that's going to solve the problem for us. I'm going to go ahead into one of my scans and I'm going to select the whole thing. I can use the rectangle marque for this or the shortcut control or command A. I'm going to copy it, command or control C, go back to the other page and paste, command or control V. So now I've got both of these pieces of my scan in two layers in the same file. Now I can select the first layer, hold my shift key so that the second layer and we're going to do some magic. We're going to go up to edit, auto align layers and this is kind of magical. We're going to select auto, click OK and then don't blink. Isn't that awesome? Photoshop reassembled the image for us and if necessary, you can also go back up…
