- There's a great storied tradition of black and white imagery in the history of landscape photography. And it is something, it's a tool that you're definitely going to want to use or maybe tool isn't the right word, but an approach, a vision on a scene that you're going to want to consider. In the old days, of course, you chose black and white film and you shot black and white images. Now most of the time we all shoot color images and have to convert them to black and white. I have an entire course on black and white photography. It covers everything from how to visualize in black and white to how to make conversions. So I'm not going to go into the process of conversion here, but I know a lot of people are confused about well, when should I convert from color to black and white?
