Blocking in color
- [Voiceover] In our first step, we roughed in a basic guide sketch of our still life. Now we are ready to apply color to the scaffolding. This is the first pass of color. The goal here is to block in the major color areas making up the still life. We will continue to utilize our non-destructive work flow by adding the block in colors on its own layer. So, here we are and I'm gonna click on my sketch, and I wanna check what I've done in here. And I'm gonna reiterate this for you. I like to keep this sketch locked. That way, when I'm in my brush tool, if I accidentally am blocking in it for some reason, and it happens, I accidentally activate the sketch layer, I can't paint on it, and that's something you wanna do. And I know from experience, if you don't do this, some point you're gonna find that you've been painting what you think is on a separate layer and then you look and realize, oh, I was painting it on the sketch layer.
