Brighten or darken skin with Photoshop's Channel Mixer
- [Instructor] Sometimes you want to brighten or darken skin tones. One easy way to do that is with the channel mixer. This uses the properties of the color channels for the adjustment. Skin tones are lightest in the red channel and darkest in the blue. Go back to the Layers tab and add a Channel Mixer Adjustment Layer. Go to Preset and select Black & White with red filter. The image is now black and white, but not for long. Change the Layer mode from Normal to Luminosity. The color is restored and the skin is lightened. But I still want him to have a tan, so I adjust the Layer Opacity. That looks better. This is an effective technique for adjusting skin tones without changing the color or adding saturation and it's very fast.
