Bring out the bokeh from an image
- [Instructor] We saw in a previous movie how we can create a bokeh texture from scratch using a brush. In this example, I want to show you how we can tease out the bokeh from an image. And by "bokeh," what I'm talking about are those discs of light that you associate with images that are taken with a very wide aperture. So, this is my finished state, and I've applied three filters here. There's the Blur Gallery, a Diffuse Glow, and some adjustments made in the Camera Raw filter. And I also am using the filter mask to paint in this effect. This is my starting point. So the first thing I need to do is, as always, convert my background layer to a smart object. So right click to the right of the layer name, and choose Convert to Smart Object. Let's see what happens when we go to the Blur Gallery, to apply the bokeh.
