Calculating the perfect exposure for a raw file

- When working inside of Adobe Camera Raw or Lightroom, the Auto button recently got an upgrade. Now, I know that might sound strange. Auto should just be automatic, right? But what happens now is that it's calculating a new recipe based upon the contents of the scene. Adobe uses its Sensei engine, looks at the image, and make suggestions on an analysis of the content of that photo to try to get a better one-click fix. Let me show you. I'll just select two images here and double-click to take them into Photoshop. They open first into the Adobe Camera Raw dialogue. Now, in this particular scene, looking at the image, you see the histogram. Notice how the highlights are kind of underexposed and a bit washed out. We have a lot of clogging here in the shadow region and in the blacks. With one click on the auto button, watch how the histogram was better redistributed.
