Changing the shape of a letter
- [Narrator] The easiest way to customize a letter form or change the shape of a character is to convert the text to a shape layer. I'll tap the T key to select the type tool and I have it set to Futura PT Book at 140 points, center aligned. And for my color, I've selected the darker color or the shady side of the glacier here. Then I'll click in the image area and type in mountain in all caps and then to commit to the text, I'll tap on the check mark. I'll use the move tool in order to reposition this, but in order to edit, I need to convert the text into shapes. If you thought you wanted to return to the text at any time, you could duplicate it. But in this example, I'm just going to select the type tool and then convert to shape. We can see that I can no longer edit the text as a text layer, but I can edit the individual characters.
