- [Tony] Hi, and welcome to Design Tools Weekly with me, Tony Harmer. This week, I'd like to just briefly look at the topic of color blindness or color vision deficiency. That's CVD for short. Do you ever check your work to see how someone with a form of CVD would perceive it? Well, maybe you should, because around 8% of males and 1 in 200 women, have some form of color blindness and that adds up to 300 million people worldwide. Which is exactly the same as the population of the United States. You might be interested to know if you use Adobe tools, that Illustrator and Photoshop both have view modes which can simulate the two most common forms of color blindness. And that's what we're going to look at here in Illustrator. If I go up to the View menu here, and turn on Proof Colors, I go in to this particular view.
