- [Instructor] In this example, I'd like to create a composition of this vector logo created in Illustrator, and this image. If we take a look at the logo, we see that it is divided into four segments, and I would like to be able to apply a different level of transparency to each of these. The question is, do we use Photoshop as the host document or do we use Illustrator? Well, my first thought was what if I were to export this, my Illustrator artwork, as a PSD? I could choose to Write the Layers, then open up the resulting PSD in Photoshop. And we see that my segments have all been now reduced to a single layer, and more than that they are rasterized. I could separate the segments onto individual layers, but there would still be the problem of the artwork being rasterized when we export as a PSD. So that is a real short coming in this approach.
