Combining shapes into a smart object

- [Narrator] In this movie, we'll combine all of our shape layers into a single smart object, and that will allow us to assign some smart filters and texture the shield as well. I'm going to go and switch over to my image so far and I'll click on the star layer, and then shift click on the red two layer, so that all of the shape layers are selected. And then, I'll right click inside the image window with the rectangular marquee tool. Very important that that tool is selected, and then choose convert to smart object, and that will put everything into a single smart object, as we're seeing here. And notice that by default, Photoshop goes ahead and names the smart object after the top most layer. I'm going to change that name however to shield, and then I'll press the enter key or the return key on the Mac. Now, we're going to start things off by styling this layer, and so I'll drop down to the FX icon and choose drop shadow, and this is the exact shadow I'm looking for. Big surprise…
