Convert a layer to a Smart Object
- [Instructor] To work non-destructively and so that we can edit our blur I'm going to right click on this layer and convert it into a smart object. A smart object is a container that holds one or more layers and it allows you to apply non-destructive adjustments, filters, distortions, and transformations, which means that you can always come back and make changes to your adjustment at a later time. In this case, you'll be able to adjust the blur that we apply. Also known as the icon on the layer, this indicates that this layer is a smart object. Next I'll enable my model layer and I'll rename these layers just to keep things organized and we know what we're dealing with. This background copy will be the blur layer. And of course the top layer will be our model. In the next movie. I'll show you how to blur backgrounds using Photoshop filters.
