Copy and paste Illustrator artwork into Photoshop

- [Instructor] Let's see how we can copy and paste Illustrator artwork into Photoshop. I want to use this silhouette of a hummingbird in a Photoshop composition. So in Illustrator I will select it, copy it, move to Photoshop, and paste it. Now when I paste it, I have these choices. I can paste it as pixels. Rarely do I want to do that. I could paste it as a path or a shape layer and sometimes that can be useful, but most useful of all is to paste it as a smart object. That way if I need to make changes to it, I can come and make those changes in the creator application, i.e. Illustrator. So I will choose Paste as Smart Object, press Return to confirm that, and we now see the smart object badge on the layer thumbnail. This means that if I double click on that, I open up a new Illustrator document containing these vectors where I can make whatever change I deem necessary and then save that and we see it updated in Photoshop.
