Copying effects between layers and groups

- [Narrator] In this movie, I'll show you how to copy one or more effects from one layer to another. And there's a bunch of ways to work, so I'm going to show you everything. And our purpose here is to copy the layer effects assigned to the text layers to this white border. So the first thing we need to do is create a copy of the white border by pressing control J or command J on the Mac. And then I'll just grab, let's say this color overlay effect right here and I'll drag it and drop it onto the border layer. And notice what happens, I just moved that color overlay effect from that top text layer to the border layer. Obviously that's not what I want to do because now I no longer have that darkening effect assigned to the text. So I'll just go ahead and press control Z or command Z on the Mac, to undo that change. Instead if you want to duplicate a layer effect, you need to press and hold the ALT key, or the option key on the Mac, and you need to do this before you begin dragging. So…
