- [Instructor] All right, so we have these broken stripes. How do we fix them? This is just by way of one example of how you can fix a broken pattern. First thing I'm going to do is go up to the view menu and turn off the pattern preview command so I can actually see what I'm doing. Now, I want to release this smart object, and so once again, armed with the rectangular marquee tool, I'll right-click inside this tiny image window and choose this command right here, convert to layers, which is going to restore our original group along with those vector base shape layers. And now if you're working along with me, you want to go ahead and click on the thick line layer in order to make it active, and then switch to the black arrow tool, the one that Photoshop calls the path selection tool, even though it has a keyboard shortcut of A for arrow, and then click on that open path outline in order to select it.
