Create an engraved look with a pattern overlay and the Displace filter
- [Instructor] Here I'm going to show you how we can create this engraved effect using the displace filter in combination with a black and white adjustment layer, levels and also smart blur, smart sharpen and a few other things as well. This is the finished version, let's now switch to the starting state. The first thing I want to do is as always, convert to a smart object. Then I'm going to come to my Image menu to Adjustments and Shadows/Highlights. I'll use the default values right there just to really make the shadows and the highlights pop out. Now, I'll return to my Adjustments menu and apply a Black & White adjustment as a smart filter. And I will apply a high contrast red filter as the preset. Now, the next thing I want to do is make a copy of this layer but I want the copy to be a new smart object that will be independent of this smart object. So, I'll right click and choose New Smart Object via Copy. And then I'll double click on that smart object to open it in a new…
