Create a scan-line portrait

- In this movie I'm going to show you how we can create a moody scan-line portrait. This is the finished version, and here is where we begin. I'm going to start by converting my background layer to a smart object, then make sure that my foreground color and background color are set to their default, black and white. If they're not, press the D key. I'll come to the filter menu, to sketch, and halftone pattern. This uses your foreground and background color, which is why I reset them. I want to use the smallest size possible, and not too much contrast, in this case. I'm going to start out with about 20, I may need to come back and modify this. The next thing I want to do is make the scan-lines, the halftone pattern, fall away on the highlights of the face and on the background. To do this, I'll add a levels adjustment. I'll get the white-point slider and drag this to the left. Now I'll select the layout and blur the scan-lines. From the filter menu, I'll come to blur gallery, and to…
