Creating a custom brush

- [Instructor] In this next technique, we're going to create a custom brush and while we're going to use it to paint in a mask, you can create a custom brush to paint with, as well as a paint stroke. For example, you could create a stroke that paints in clouds or fire. All right, here I have a number of different brush strokes and you can select any one you want. I'm going to choose the Marquee tool by tapping the m key and then click and drag a rectangular marquee over the brush mark down here. Now, if I have color in my brush mark, it's going to be converted to a shade of gray when I define this as a brush and the background is also going to be gray so I'm going to get a gray square. So in this case, I want to push that background to white. I'll use cmd + l to bring up the Levels command. That's the same as going to Image and Adjustments and then Levels.
