Creating and editing layer masks

- [Voiceover] Along with selections, layer masks are also a vital component of compositing. Selections can be turned into layer masks, of course, but you can also create layer masks in other ways that do not involve selections. In this demo, we'll explore using the brush tool to modify a layer mask and add a medieval arched door into a desert canyon. I already have the two images here in the single file, you can see I have the door layer on top there and then the canyon's in the background. And the first that I wanna do is I need to scale the door image a bit smaller because I don't it to be quite so huge. I'm gonna temporarily turn off the visibility for the door and I want to take advantage of structures in the rock that might help me at creating a more realistic blend of the door into the rock. So let me show my rules by using the command r or control r shortcut. Gonna move my toolbar out of the way here so I can get access to the vertical ruler on the left. I'm gonna click inside…
