Creating gradually fading transitions

- [Instructor] In this movie, I'll show you how to add gradually fading transitions between your video clips, and we'll see how you can adjust the duration of those fades as well. Now I'm ultimately looking for each one of the video clips to fade into each other. I also want the movie to fade in from black at the beginning, and then fade back to black here at the end. Now I do have the option of selecting this final clip, and then clicking on this transition icon right here, and selecting Fade With Black, or for that matter, you can Fade With White, or fade through a color. The thing is, we're going to have more flexibility, and we'll be able to define exactly how long the blackness lasts if we create it as an independent layer. And we're going to do that by going up to the Layer menu, choosing New Fill Layer, and then choosing Solid Color. Or if you loaded Deke Keys, you have a shortcut of Control + Shift + 1, or Command + Shift + 1 on the Mac. I'm going to go ahead and name this…
