- [Instructor] Most people think that layer styles are just for adding simple drop shadows, but they're really so much more powerful than that. Let's take a look at the different effects that we can add to these icons to completely change their appearance. I'll use command + one in order to zoom in and then use the space bar in order to reposition it. So we're looking at this plane icon. I'll select it in the layers panel, and then at the bottom I'll click on effects. And the first effect I'm going to add is a simple color overlay. I'll go ahead and click in the color swatch in order to change the color, but we can see how easy it is to add a color. And if we were going to save this as a style, it would make it very easy to apply the same color to multiple layers. Then I'll add an inner glow.
