Cropping without deleting any pixels

- Now I'll show you how to crop an image non destructively or at least as non destructively as it gets, using the crop tool. So let's say that I'm looking at this image and I want to get back some more sky. Well initially it appears that I've lost my crop boundaries. Even though the crop tool's selected I'm not seeing any boundary at all. But I can bring it back just by clicking inside the image window. But notice if I drag up in order to expose more sky, all I'm going to get is white, or whatever the background color is down here at the bottom of the toolbox. That's because by default the crop tool goes ahead and throws away any cropped pixels. So notice over here in the layers panel. There's an implication that we have layers, but if I was to press the escape key in order to abandon my changes, I would see that I have a flat background, and the background is never any bigger than the fore walls of the canvas.
