Diopters and focal length

- [Instructor] In this movie, we'll discuss the relationship between diopters and focal length. And it's all in the name of choosing the right lens for Super Macro. And so the short story is longer lenses are going to give you better results. And so here we are looking at a typical Super Macro image that Hergen captured, of a tiny Colonial Hermet Crab. And that's just a little bit of eye candy while I tell you that one of the benefits of longer lenses is that they provide you with more working distance. And again that's the distance from the lens at which you achieve one to one, and it allows for more effective use of a diopter. Longer focal length lenses such as 105 millimeter lens, rather than a 60 millimeter, will get you a greater benefit from the same strength diopter. - [Instructor 2] So let's take a look at the benefit of that longer working distance, as it applies to diopter use.
