- Okay next, let's talk about some of Photoshop's Brush-based really powerful editing tools, so things like Dodge, Burn, and Sponge. Now I know what you're thinking. Those are tools you've tried before and they just didn't work. Those are probably places you've been trained to stay away from, but they've gone through a lot of changes over the years. They work fantastic. So I want to show you what the workflow is like. The first thing I'm gonna do before doing any of these, is I'm gonna dupe my layer. Any sort of Brush-based operation is gonna benefit from a layer-based workflow because I want to be able to turn the effects off or on, adjust the opacity. If it's heavy-handed I want to be able to tune it later. Brush-based tools are interacting with the pixels so they're inherently destructive. Okay, so let's start with the Dodge Tool.
