- [Instructor] In this movie, I'll show you how to downsample an image in order to email it or to post it to a photo-sharing or social media site, such as Instagram or Twitter or Facebook, heck, even LinkedIn. And basically, there are two goals here. One is to try to get the final size on disk, to five megabytes or less. That's generally a good target. And the other is to reduce the size of the image so that it's no wider than 1920 pixels, which is the maximum width for a particular HD display. And by display, I mean computer monitor. Meanwhile, some sites such as Facebook top out at half that or 960 pixels, at least where your standard everyday average image post is concerned. So here we are looking at a photo I shot at my youngest, Sam. I like Sam, so I figure no reason to ruin the original image. So the first thing I'm going to do is go up to the Image menu and choose the Duplicate command. And notice inside this…
