- [Instructor] In this movie, I'll show you how to downsample an image in order to email it or to post it to a photo sharing or social media site, such as Instagram or Twitter or Facebook, heck even LinkedIn. And basically there are two goals here. One is to try to get the file size on disk to five megabytes or less. That's generally a good target. And the other is to reduce the size of the image so that it's no wider than 1,920 pixels, which is the maximum width for a typical HD display. And by display, I mean computer monitor. Meanwhile, some sites such as Facebook, top out at half that or 960 pixels, at least where your standard, everyday average image post is concerned. So here we are looking at a photo I shot of my youngest, Sam. I like Sam, so I figured no reason to ruin the original image.
