Drop shadows vs. cast shadows

- [Instructor] Let's talk about drop shadows and cast shadows. So, first I've got an illustration here by one of my students, Brielle, and if you want to see more of her work you can look her up on Instagram @elfinillustrations. Let's add a drop shadow to this. If you look at my layers you can see I've got a background here set up but it's turned off at the moment, but I'm going to leave it off for now. I'm going to go to the layer that has the girl on it. We're going to go to effects, and here we're going to add a drop shadow. Now, by default the drop shadow is black. It's set to about 30% and it's kind of overwhelming. Over here you can adjust the angle of the drop shadow. You can also click on it here and move it around. Size here, adjust the blurriness. Spread makes it really hard at the edges. I think those are named sort of oddly, but size affects blur. So, we're going to soften the edges. We're not going to make it too distant. Let's put it on this angle where the rest of our…
