Dropping out whites or blacks
- [Instructor] All right, now let's show you how to take a piece of black and white artwork that's relegated to an independent layer and drop out either the whites or the blacks. Now a lot of folks assume that if we want to drop out this white background, that we need to select it and either delete it or mask it away. But that's not actually the case. All we have to do is take advantage of our friendly blend modes, multiply, or screen. And so notice if I click on normal right here and I change the blend mode to multiply, then I'm going to automatically drop out the whites and keep the blacks. Actually want the opposite effect. I want my logo to be white. And so I'll go ahead and switch back to my composition so far, and then I'll go up to the edit menu, choose adjustments, and then choose this command right here, invert, which if you ever need it has a shortcut of Ctrl + I or Cmd + I on the Mac. And that's going to reverse…
