Duplicating a mask
- They're really some cases where you want to duplicate a layer mask, perhaps, for example, you want to use the same layer mask for two different layers. Or you might want to create the opposite layer mask, duplicating the mask and then inverting it to get the opposite effect so that you can apply one adjustment in one area of an image and a different adjustment in the opposite area of an image. So let's take a look at some of the options and the pitfalls of duplicating a layer mask in Photoshop. I'm going to start off by applying an adjustment to the sky in this image. I'd like to darken it up just a little bit. And so I'll go ahead and use the quick selection tool. I'll increase my brush size here a little bit and just paint into the sky, and in this case, a very easy selection to create. I'll then go ahead and add an adjustment.
