- [Instructor] So here is where we are at with our vintage postcard, and here is where we're going. In this step, I need to expand the letters and make them into picture frames. And to do that, I'm going to select Layer 3, that layer that currently contains the extruded and warped type, and then come to the Object menu and choose Expand Appearance. Then, come back to the Object menu and Ungroup. And I'm going to need to do that three times, until Ungroup is no longer an option. Now, with my selection tool, first of all, I'll de-select, and then holding down the shift key, I'll select each of the letters. I'll create a new layer, and then move the letters to that new layer. I'll select the layer, and from the Layers panel menu, I will choose Release to Layers. So that's going to put each of the letters on a separate layer, and that's necessary because the letters are going to become clipping groups.
