- We've seen opening, we've seen copying and pasting, we've seen placing linked and placing embedded. There's also another option for getting your Illustrator artwork into Photoshop, and that is exporting. It comes with some serious drawbacks, but it does have one interesting feature, which is almost useful. So this is what it is. Let's say I want to take this artwork, and I want to put it in Photoshop and then continue to work on it in Photoshop, because maybe I want to add a bevel and emboss to this type here. Now, it is possible to add bevel and emboss to type in Illustrator, but you have to work very hard. In Photoshop, using Photoshop's layer effects, it's very easy. So, perhaps I prefer to do it there. Let me just show you how the document is constructed. You'll notice that the content is assigned to separate layers, because when I export this as a .psd, I want to maintain those layers.
