Exporting and editing Smart Objects

- Smart objects have several benefits as you've already seen in this course. However, one of my favorites I've saved for last, and that is the ability to reaccess the raw data. When you open up a raw file in Photoshop, you're presented with the ability to save it as a smart object. Let me show you that. Now you can use any raw file you have. This is just a simple one on my system and notice here, as I make changes how I can make refinements. Dialing this in. Then at the bottom here, you may have a choice. Now you can click on the workflow option here and check the box that says open in Photoshop as smart objects. This is on the newer version of Photoshop. And you'll notice that the dropdown here now says open as object. If you check that box, it'll become the new default. And when you click open, it opens the object like such. Now the layer is intact.
