Feathering selections
you may want to soften or feather the edges of that selection. This could be done for a number of reasons, sometimes technical and sometimes aesthetic. but I'd really like that text to stand out a little bit more on the background layer that'll set my colors to the default, and that is going to fill that with that color. Now you can see that it's a very hard edge, right, and it would be cool, I'm thinking, if it had a softer edge. There's a couple of ways that we could do that. I mean, one way is, let me deselect this, with the rectangular marquee tool selected, I could come up here to the option bar and if I increase the feather, that will allow me to draw a selection in that using that technique, what does 8.4 pixels even mean? And it's really going to vary based on the resolution of your image so I'm going to go ahead and undo that. And let's just go ahead and come up here and we'll set the feather back to zero, okay. and from here we can go to modify and I can choose feather. Now,…
