The Freeform and standard Pen tools
- [Voiceover] In this movie, we'll take a look at the freeform and standard pen tools, as well as the basics of working with each. So, notice this pen nib right here. If you were to click and hold on it, you will see the two varieties of pen which are the standard pen tool, which is one that you'll be using on a regular basis, and the easier, but less capable freeform pen tool. Now the reason that the freeform tool is easier to use is because you just drag with it, as you do with the freeform lasso tool. The reason that it's less accurate is because Photoshop has to convert your drag to a vector-based path outline, which requires some old-school averaging, that's not particularly adept. And, to show you what I mean I'll go ahead and select that tool. Notice that I'm seeing a pen nib with the little path coming off of it. And now I'll drag around this kid's face. Now, I'm trying to be careful, but I am working with a mouse, and so I'm probably not going to get the best drag going, but…
