Healing to an independent layer

- [Narrator] All right, so if you've never seen that tool before, it's something of a minor miracle. But I'm using it all wrong, and that's because I'm making destructive modifications. In other words, I'm permanently changing the pixels in this image. And notice, this particular photograph is a flat background, even though I have a couple of layers on top of it. What I should be doing is healing to an independent layer so that my modifications are as non-destructive as possible. And so I'm going to get rid of everything I've done so far by going up to the file menu, and choosing the 'Revert' command. And that's going to get rid of all the work I've done so far. And then I'll create a new layer by pressing ctrl + shift + n, or cmd + shift + n on the mac, then I'll just go ahead and call this layer 'healing', and click 'OK'. All right, now notice if I click over here in order to heal this mole, that nothing…
