How can I get a smaller file size?

- As you work with a file, it can grow in size, particularly if it's a layered file in Photoshop. Let me explore a few different techniques to help you get your file size down. In this case, I see a bit about this particular image. For example, I can tell that the document size is 240 megabytes. Let's take a look at this though, at the desktop level and you'll see that the file size is actually a little bit larger. So this tells you that sometimes there's a difference between what's on disk and what Photoshop decodes. When we go to save this, we have a few options. For example, if we take a look at the image mode here, I see that it's in 16 bits per channel. This 16 bits per channel mode is ideal if you are working with something that is going to be a large file with lots of quality and depth and you intend to print it.
