How do I fix an Image that's too dark?

- The opposite of too bright is of course, too dark. And sometimes if you're shooting a photo, you might choose to under expose to preserve details. Especially if I'm shooting at night, I might use a shorter exposure to avoid the longer shutter that can lead to unwanted motion blur. This will reduce overall noise in the image and potentially make a sharper photo if you're hand holding the camera. But it tends to give you an image that's a bit under exposed. Let me show you how to fix this. First, I've opened up a Raw file here and we can see on the histogram that the details are really slammed to the left. The nice thing in Camera Raw is that the histogram can be dragged. So if I go to the mid tones here for exposure, I can just drag to the right and bring those details back allowing me to see more information in the scene. And recovering a dark photo, particularly a Raw photo is substantially easier. Now looking at…
