Hue, Saturation, Color, and Luminosity

- [Instructor] In this movie, we'll take a look at the final group of blend modes, which start with hue and end with luminosity. And these are what's known as the component modes because they represent the individual color components. And so the idea is that a pixel contains numerical HSL data. And HSL stands for hue, saturation, and luminosity. And to get a sense for how they work, I'll bring up my color panel. And notice that I've brought up my HSB sliders. And I've dialed in red, which has a Hue value of 0 degrees and saturation and brightness values of 100%. And so if I modify the hue value then I change the key colors. So for example, if I dial in a hue of 60 degrees, I get yellow. Saturation allows me to change how vivid that color is, from 0 for white in this case, or grey, all the way up to 100% for vivid color. Now brightness goes from black all the way to the saturated color. Luminosity is a little different. It goes from black to color to white. Now with all that in mind…
