Importing a layered PSD file into After Effects

Now that we have the Photoshop files prepared, it's time to bring them into After Effects. There's a few ways of doing this, so it's important that you pay attention to the details. With After Effects launched, you'll have an empty project. Now from the final menu choose Import - File. This allows you to select what you want to bring in. Let's navigate to the folder 07 here, and I'll select both Photoshop files. Now what I want to do is be sure to bring these in as compositions. However, I'm going to choose the option of regular composition as opposed to retain layer size. When you choose this method what happens is it keeps the bounding box, or the transparent areas set to the original canvas size. This is important because it makes it a lot easier to animate.
