Introducing the Quick Mask mode

- [Instructor] All right, now that we've done just about everything that we can with the automated selection tools, it's time to refine our selection by entering the quick mask mode. And here's how it works. First of all you need to have a selection outline in place, in which case go ahead and drop down to the second-to-last icon at the bottom of the toolbox, the one that reads edit in quick mask mode. And notice that it has a keyboard shortcut of Q for quick mask. As soon as you click on that icon, a couple of things are going to happen. First of all, you're going to lose your selection outline, so the marching ants are going to go away. And second, your bird is going to turn red, which shows you that it is deselected and it's the background that is selected. So anything that's not covered in red is selected.
