Introducing Smart Sharpen

- [Instructor] In this movie I'll introduce you to the slightly slower but undeniably more powerful smart sharpen filter. Now smart sharpen is best understood in the context of unsharp masks. So I'm going to be applying both filters inside of this movie. Of course, I want to apply them as editable smart filters, so I'll just go ahead and double click on the background here inside the layers panel. Name this layer fish and press the enter or return key. Now I'll right click inside the image window with the rectangular marquee tool and choose convert to smart object. Next, go up the the filter menu, choose smart sharpen and then choose unsharp mask. And I'm going to go ahead and dial in those same settings at 500%, 3.0 pixels and three levels, at which point I'll go ahead and click OK to accept that change. Now of course at this point I've way over sharpened the image. So, I'll go ahead and double click on the slider icon to bring out the blending options dialog box. And I want you to…
