Let me show you around

- Now I know you want to get going and start making stuff. I mean come on, Photoshop is immensely complex and powerful. But seriously, no one has the time or patience just to sit there and learn, ponderously painfully learn. Okay, understood. But even so, I'm going to take one chapter to help you get your bearings. It's like when you buy a new car. You want to start driving it. But please, let me take one chapter to show you around the car. We'll start by magnifying the image. It's kind of like driving toward the pixels or driving away. Then we'll get the lay of the land by scrolling around, and then switching between open images and screen modes. And we'll roam around Photoshop's neighborhoods, which are known as panels, panels upon panels of important options that will eventually make your creative life a kind of self-contained metropolis known as the workspace. I spent a lot of movies on this topic because there's a lot to know. And I'm going to share it all with you because I want you to be able to move around inside Photoshop without even thinking, like it's your everyday average pixel-based commute to wherever it is you want to go. That way you can focus less energy on the mechanics of the program, and more on the task of creating great artwork and imagery. Okay, so maybe you're not a car person. Maybe you prefer bicycles. But you've got to get around somehow. Let me show you the best roads, all the best roads, in Photoshop.
