Make a quick blurred background for a portrait
- [Instructor] Blurring the area around a subject is a popular way to draw attention to the subject, similar to capturing a photo in your camera with shallow depth of field. Here's a quick way to do it using one of the actions in Photoshop's Discover panel. If your photo is on a locked background layer, click the lock icon on that layer to convert it to a regular layer. Go to the properties panel and scroll down to the bottom of the quick action section and click View More. That opens the Discover panel, which offers additional quick actions. Select the Blur Background quick action in the Discover panel and then click the Apply button. close the Discover panel to get it out of the way and notice that everything except the dog is now quite blurry. In the layers panel, there's now an additional layer with a Gaussian blur smart filter, all created by the quick action. Let's edit the smart filter to customize the…
