Making random or toss patterns

- [Speaker] Now I wanna show you an easy way to make a random or toss repeat. I just happen to have some leaves here, and I'm gonna go ahead and select one of them and make a brush out of it. And this is a really cool trick for doing a random pattern. So we'll go Edit, Define Brush Preset, we'll call it Leaf 1, and let's grab another one while we're here. We'll select this one, Edit, Define Brush Preset again, and we'll call this one Leaf 2. Very creative naming system I have here. All right, let's go back to our pattern file. I've made this file four inches by four inches at a resolution of 150. So I've got my leaf here, and as you can see it's very large so I'm gonna scale it down and you can scale down a brush using the left bracket key on your keyboard. I will make a new layer because I always like the motifs for my pattern to be on a layer that's separate from the background layer. And I'm gonna pick a color.
