Masking a subject set against black or white

- [Instructor] In this movie, we take a look at the recipes for masking a person or an animal, still works, set against the black background versus that same person set against a white background. And while these aren't hard and fast recipes, you can vary them if you want to, they do work quiet nicely. So let's start again as subject setting against the black or in this case a very dark background which is a less common scenario but you do run into it every once in a while. It just happens to be the simpler of the two. And so the recipe is to set source one to the red channel. Also set source two to that same channel and set the blend mode to screen. And so to see what this looks like, I'll go up to the image menu and choose calculations. Where once again, if you loaded D keys, you've got that shortcut of control shift alt L or command shift option L on a Mac. Now, we don't want that text to enter into the picture.
