Masking with vector-based letterforms

- [Instructor] In this movie I'll show you how to take letters that have been converted to a shape layer, and then turn that into a vector-based mask. So for example, notice up here at the top of the stack, I have this layer called babyland. And if I click on it, you can see that it at least used to be editable type set in a font called Rock that's available from Jester Font Studio, and as I'm recording this, that font is available for free. Now I had to assume you don't have the font which is why I converted it to a shape layer by going up to the Type menu and choosing Convert to Shape. So that much has been done in advance. Now I want to take the interior of the letters, and use them to mask this rock texture layer right here. All right so the first thing I'm going to do is turn that layer off, and then I'll select all the shapes by switching to the black arrow tool, which you can get by pressing the A key, and then I'll go ahead and entirely marquee the shapes like so, and then…
