Merging and flattening layers

- [Instructor] For many different reasons, you may decide at certain points during your work, to merge some layers or flatten some layers, and so on, and that's what we're going to look at here in this file, and I'm going to start off with the layer almost at the bottom, the layer of the male character at the back here, in our poster. And this one is actually a linked smart object, which of course, Photoshop on the iPad doesn't understand. Anyways, so, it's giving a representation there, but I want to do is actually stop that being a smart object. If I go to the ellipsis on the right-hand side, you'll see, down towards the bottom, Flatten Layer. And that's what it does, it basically rasterizes that layer. Or that would be the equivalent command in the desktop version of Photoshop. I'm going to leave that layer targeted, just there, and go back to the ellipsis and then I'll choose Merge Down, and that will merge it down onto the…
