Merging layers
- When working in Photoshop, there are a variety of reasons why we merge layers in a project. As much as we want to keep as much as we can editable, there are times when it's fine to nail things down, and even simplify the layers panel. Let me show you a few of the tips I like to use for merging layers in Photoshop. So, I'm going to start here with this project open, and you can see that we have a good number of layers over here in the layers panel. I'm going to start with one of the commands that I like to use, which is called merge layers. This command can be a little confusing because it's not really obvious what it does. I mean, obviously it's going to merge layers, but which layers is it going to merge? So, if I come up here to the layers panel, and I choose merge layers, you can see that currently it's grayed out. I wish they would change the name to merge selected layers, because it's really not available until you select certain layers. What I'm going to do is, I'm going to…
