- [Deke] Alright, in this chapter, we're going to discuss camera modes. Specifically, exposure and metering modes as they apply to underwater photography. And we're going to start things off in this movie by taking a look at the metering modes. And, as usual, I'm going to turn things over to somebody who know more than me, which is, in this case, Hergen. - [Hergen] So let's take a look at the metering modes that we do have and the icons with which they are generally represented on the camera. So first off we've got spot metering. Our second option is center weighted metering. And our third option is referred to as matrix, or evaluative metering. - [Deke] And if I might just interject here. I want to stress that this is the way it works with most cameras. There are different icons and mechanics out there. - [Hergen] So let's take a quick look at how metering modes actually work. Metering systems evaluate the ambient light conditions.
